Search Files by File Name or Location VX Search allows one to search files by the file name, location, extension, full file name including the full path, the name of the directory without the path and file name and the file name without extension. There are a number of positive and negative pattern matching operators providing the user with the ability to match text patterns located at different places of the file name and allowing one to define precise file matching rules.
For example, in order to search files containing a specific text in the file name, select the 'File Name' file search rule, set the file search operator to 'Contains' and enter a text string to search for. There are two types of file search operators: positive and negative. Positive operators will include the matching files in the search results and the negative operators will exclude the matching files from the search results.
For example, in order to find files containing a specific text in the file name, but exclude all files located in the 'Windows' directory, add the 'Full Path' file search rule, set the file search operator to 'Not Begin' and enter the 'C:\Windows' text as the search pattern. |
